It is still important to check locally the availability of contracts for SY Tennyson before growing the variety. It is essential to know what market your grain is going to so you can tailor your imputs and achieve the correct specification.
SY TENNYSON for brewing
- Aim for a % grain N of 1.6-1.75%
- 2 splits of nitrogen will help achieve higher % N
- In high N years, 175kg/N/ha can often be too high and can go over 1.75% grain N
SY TENNYSON for malt distilling
- Aim for a % grain N of below 1.65%
- 100% application of nitrogen in the seedbed at low N rates will help keep the grain nitrogen lower
