Podium performances continue for RGT Kanzzas in Agrii trials
That was good enough third place out of the 31 varieties reported, adding to the second place achieved at Agrii’s Kinross site in Scotland.
The Bridgend trial on medium soils followed winter wheat and was drilled on 7 September at 50 seeds/sq m, and was harvested on 26 July.
The treated mean yield in the trial was 3.92t/ha, lower than normal due to the extremely wet weather through autumn and winter, but RGT Kanzzas’ exceptional vigour helped it achieved a very credible 4.63t/ha, despite the conditions.
Levels of light leaf spot were higher than normal on what is a high-pressure site, but RGT Kanzzas’ outstanding resistance stood the variety in good stead. Along with a handful of others it remained almost clean, reflecting its top position for LLS ratings in Agrii’s trials this season.
“This is the second year we have trialled RGT Kanzzas and we continue to be impressed with its performance,” says David Leaper, Agrii’s seed technical manager.
“This has been driven by its very vigorous growth habit and really good LLS resistance, which is why we have chosen it as one of our main oilseed rape varieties this season.”
